What is Awakening?

This January we will be joining with over a thousand churches all over the world to do something called Awakening.  21 days of Prayer, Fasting, and Worship.   Join us as a church in kicking off 2012 by seeking God's face as a community. Mark your calendars and set your alarm clocks for January 1st!

How can I participate?

Sunday Mornings - We will be focusing on Awakening at all five Sundays in January.  We will be kicking off Awakening on Sunday, January 1st!  So set your alarm clocks and mark your calenders to start 2012 off by focusing on your relationship with God!

Fasting - We are challenging everyone to do a 21 day "Daniel's Fast" from January 8-28th.  The idea of a Daniel's fast comes from Daniel 10:2-3.  This type of fast consists of eating only fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  Fasting is not just about abstaining from food, but intentionally turning your attention to God.  For those not able to participate in the Daniel's Fast God might ask you to fast television, fast food, or media all together.  Remember the purpose in this season is to disconnect from the things that distract us from connecting with God.   We are also using the fast to have a fun Life Group Social.  In these socials we will have soup together, and talk about what God is doing in our life through Awakening. 

Scripture Reading - We as a church will be reading and journaling through the book of John from January 8-28th.  The book of John has 21 chapters, so it will go perfectly with our  21 day fast.  During the first two Sundays of Awakening we will be giving out specially designed Starting Point Journals that will guide you through the book of John and teach you how to record your thoughts in a way that is applicable to your life.  

Worship Nights - We will be having 3 Friday Night Worship events during Awakening.  They will be on January 13, 20, and 27 from 6:30-8:00pm.  All three worship nights will be held at LIFEPOINTE CHURCH - 4112 Garland Dr., Raleigh, NC.  The worship nights will focus on prayer, worship, and serving the poor in our area.  We will be bringing in 3 well known local worship leaders to lead each night.  Check out the line-up below!

I get to help point people towards the gospel… the good news that we are free, forgiven, and loved by God through the work of Jesus – just where we are.

1/20 - JEREMIAH HAMBRICK - Worship Pastor at The Creek

Jeremiah grew up just outside of Roanoke, VA and is the son of Jim and Debbie Hambrick who are full time missionaries. Jeremiah graduated from a couple of nice schools and has a few degrees that hang on his walls. He married his beautiful wife, Jennifer, in May of 2003 and they have four awesome and extremely cute children, Ella, Ezra, their adopted son, Eli, and the latest edition, Zoe

1/27 - LANE WOOD - Worship Pastor at Capital Community Church

Lane has a passion for leading others into authentic worship of God and loves working with students. He has traveled extensively over the past nine years leading in worship, concerts, and speaking. Lane married his childhood sweetheart, Meghan, in 2006 and they have one son, Durham, who was born on Valentine's Day of 2010 and a second son due in December of 2011.
